>> (8/2008) Deacon Module for Children's Ministry posted
A new deacon track ordination module, Developing Children's Ministry, has been released as part of the Modular Course of Study. Ordination candidates who are specializing in children's ministry will substitute Developing Children's Ministry for the preaching module. When a candidate finishes Developing Children's Ministry and the other 23 modules of the elder track, he or she will have completed the prescribed educational preparation for ordination as a deacon specializing in children's ministry.
This module helps participants develop abilities needed to understand and meet children's needs in the local church. This deacon track module is designed for ministers seeking ordination as a children's pastor and others who are working in local church children's ministries. The Faculty Guide and companion Student Guide along with the other module guides are available from the Modular Course of Study Guide Menu.
>> (7/2008) Teaching Resources modified for Communicating with Spoken and Written Language
With the second revision to the Communicating with Spoken and Written Language Student Guide, a new teaching resource was also released. Student Guide pages have been converted to PowerPoint slides that can be viewed on a computer monitor or with a data projector during classroom instruction. A separate PowerPoint presentation is available for each module lesson.
Instructions for downloading and extracting the resources are included on the Module Guide Supplement page. As always, students may download their own copy of the Student Guide from this website.
>> (6/2008) Portuguese translation of Exploring John Wesley's Theology added.
Through the Books for Pastors project of the Church of the Nazarene the Modular Course of Study was able to fund translation of faculty and student guides for Exploring John Wesley's Theology. This module, which is part of the doctrine of holiness portion of the curriculum, is now available in four languages--English, Spanish, French, Portuguese. The module is also being translated into Korean and should be available in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Books for Pastors has facilitated translation of three modules into Spanish, French, Portuguese and Korean languages: Exploring John Wesley's Theology, Becoming a Holy People and Exploring Nazarene History and Polity. Funds are also being used to complete the translation of all 24 elder track modules into Spanish. All module guides are available for free download from the guide menu.
>> (3/2008) 19 Elder Track Modules Available in Spanish
Communicating with Spoken and Written Language is the latest module to be translated into Spanish. This brings the total Spanish modules in the Elder Track to 19. Work is progressing on the remaining five modules and we expect them to be available by the end of this year.
